Tips for Avoiding the Hangover With Diet

It’s Andy Bennett again, the Hangover pill guy.

But first, I want you to think about something. As I said yesterday, most people will tell you that dehydration is the main cause of a hangover, right?

Dead wrong.

It’s confusing. And if you search the internet. More confusion. Even medical professionals (other than liver specialists) are completely confused.

Think about it. If they were right, then nobody would get hangovers anymore. We’d all just chug Gatorade and feel 100% fine in the morning.

But we don’t. Many of us still wake up hungover.

The subject hasn’t been studied nearly enough, which is strange considering how much we humans like to drink…

The research that has been done shows some interesting facts.

  1. The “Hangover Toxin” Acetaldehyde causes the worst side effects, such as headache, nausea, vomiting and in extreme examples death

  2. Natural substances can help neutralize toxins like Acetaldehyde and mitigate the negative aftereffects

(Hint: This is exactly how we created our product!)

Remember food, including plants and herbs, is one of the best forms of medicine. (It used to be the only medicine) In that spirit, here are my 4 best dietary tips for avoiding the hangover…

4 Diet Tips to Avoid Hangovers

  1. Get Fat

Healthy fats like olive oil, omega-3 (from fish or chia for vegetarians), nuts and seeds and avocado help slow down the absorption of alcohol in your stomach, so that your liver has more time to cope with the toxins. (This also prevents you from being a “cheap date”)

  1. The “Master Antioxidant” Glutathione

Think of it like this – the Hangover Toxin Acetaldehyde is the poison and L-Glutathione is the antidote. The more you take in, the better your body will be protected from the toxins (I’ll prove it to you soon enough with an example). Some foods with a lot of Glutathione (and its precursors) are whole eggs, red meat, tomatoes, onions, greens and avocado. See where this is going?

  1. Antioxidants

By now we know that fruits and vegetables help fight toxins in our bodies. Any food that’s colorful typically contains a lot of antioxidants. Think carrots, squash, spinach, strawberries, cherries, apples, black beans, oranges, blueberries etc. Snack on them before, during and after drinking.

  1. Super Foods

Not all fruits and veggies are created equally. Some have massive loads of antioxidants (one in particular really helps the liver). Examples include pomegranate, acai, goji berries, mangosteen, chia seeds, kale and you may have heard of many more. (Hint: some of these are made into supplements that deliver massive protection from toxins).

Taking all of the above into consideration, here it is…

My #1 Hangover-Busting Meal

A steak salad with greens like asparagus and spinach, healthy fats such as avocado, hardboiled eggs, balsamic or apple cider vinegar, olive oil etc.

*For the vegetarians and vegans among us (our product is vegan btw), choose black beans and rice, quinoa or other complex carbohydrate over meat

Remember how I mentioned a certain Super Food that is great for your liver?

It’s called Japanese Raisin extract. And soon I will explain exactly how it helps us protect our livers and avoid the misery of the morning after. (Hint: it’s the main ingredient in Intox-Detox).
